It features two 4-Bar Odometry Pods, a Pinpoint Odometry Computer, and all the hardware and cables you need to integrate them into your robot and connect them to your REV Control Hub. This Odometry Pack is a plug-and-play way to cover your odometry implementation from the get-go.
This Pack is perfect for robot chassis with wheels in the ballpark of 96mm to 104mm diameter. If you’re working with larger wheels (such as that of a 140mm Mecanum Wheel Strafer™ Chassis), check out our Swingarm Odometry Pack, which has a bit more travel to accommodate the additional ground clearance.
The Pinpoint Odometry Computer is purpose-designed for plug-and-play odometry operations. It reads your robot’s estimated position back to the controller via I²C, giving you access to data in a snap. Almost all of the tuning is done for you when you use two odometry pods and the incredibly precise, pre-calibrated IMU of the Pinpoint. It’s as easy as telling it what kind of pods you have—and, optionally, where they are mounted on your robot.
Compared to that of other FTC dead-wheel systems that operate at 100-300hz, the 1,500hz rate of the Pinpoint’s internal processor allows for vastly more readings per travel distance. That means you can drive your robot faster on the field and still get high-precision data accuracy! There’s a reason it’s called the Pinpoint—this Odometry Computer provides capital “T” Truth when it comes to the data your robot needs for localization on the game field.
The Pinpoint, naturally, has perfect compatibility with goBILDA® Odometry Pods. Of course, the Pinpoint is also compatible with any dead-wheel system that uses quadrature encoders.
Arriving pre-assembled, and born from the heft of FTC experience in the goBILDA® R&D department, goBILDA® Odometry Pods are designed specifically to interact with the soft foam tiles of FTC game fields to achieve fantastic data gathering.
Because of their grippy omni wheels, as well as their gearless, non-contact, and baked-in encoder—and including the hours of fine-tuning spring tension that each Pod comes with—goBILDA® Odometry pods don’t require tuning for their distance traveled. Simply bolt them to your robot and be off to the races!
The 4-Bar Odometry Pods in this Pack feature a compact profile for mounting within 43mm x 43mm profiles, such as inside 1120 Series U-Channel. The awesome spring tension is such that your 4-Bar Pods can achieve a nearly linear downforce as your robot travels!
