The HS-488HB servo is based around the popular HS-485HB but with a few noteworthy changes. To be more compatible with a wider spectrum of the servos and attachments on the market, the HS-488HB has a 25 tooth spline. This makes bulking up supporting parts much easier as you are able to stick to one spline size rather than bouncing back and forth between 24 and 25. The new spline comes with a larger servo screw that has a 2.5mm hex drive rather than a Phillips drive. The HS-488HB also has an updated potentiometer which has allowed the removal of the mechanical stops in the geartrain. Without mechanical stops you can drive the servo to the extremes in terms of range of motion without concern of contacting a mechanical stop which puts the servo in a stall situation.
